Volunteering with important community and business organizations is a high priority. In 1989, the U.S. Small Business Administration awarded me their Advocate of the Year Award in recognition of my contributions to strengthen small business. In addition to serving on marketing committees and Boards of Directors, as a volunteer for the Greater Granby Area Chamber of Commerce, I was able to write the 100-year history book, Granby: Then & Now 1905-2005. The book and all its proceeds were donated for heritage preservation projects. Now out-of-print, used copies are sold at www.amazon.com. When the new Granby library was dedicated, they placed a copy of this book in their time capsule. In 50 years from now, I wonder what residents will think about seeing an actual printed book when the time capsule is opened?
